Now, this is a book to which I can relate! In Courting Her, Gregory Allen explores a domestic form of female domination, establishing a blossoming romance between Alex and Kimberly that's female-led from the outset. She takes the lead, she sets the rules, and she decides how and when they'll enjoy any intimacy.
In many ways, this is a story of femdom or FLR for beginners, but that's not to say it's easy or tame. There's not a lot of kink here - no bondage, chastity, or pegging - but there is a heavy focus on submission and punishment. Kimberly uses orgasm denial to keep Alex eager, canings and spankings to make him obedient, and intimate service to help him feel connected. She insists oral sex is something for a man to perform for his Mistress, never the other way around, and they call it 'princess kisses', which I adored.
There is some significant humiliation to the story, but it's never cruel or mean-spirited, it's more a result of Alex being new to these feelings and experiences. He's fallen head-over-heels for this woman, and is willing to do anything for her. As for Kimberly, she's an assertive woman who knows what she wants and how she wants it, but she's not above showing emotion or tenderness. This is an FLR romance as much as its femdom erotica, and the progression of their relationship is wonderful to behold. We get to see all the firsts of a new couple, both kinky and ordinary, and all the uncertainty and self-doubt make it feel real.
Courting Her is a well-written story featuring two likable, respectable characters drawn together by shared passions for the power exchange. It's that rare book that should be attractive and accessible to inexperienced vanilla readers while still satisfying experienced fans of the genre.
