A Million Thanks (and a Quarter Million Pages)

Wow.
At some point last month Beauty In Ruins crossed the magic mark of 1 million pageviews.
That's huge.

On top of that, February was our best month for traffic since August 2017.
That's encouraging.

It's hard to believe I've been blogging steadily since 2012 (and dabbling before that). In case you're curious about the stats, the past 6+ years have seen:
  • 807 books read
  • 793 books reviewed
  • 242,942 pages read
  • 3.5 average rating (out of 5)
  • 68 perfect 5-star reviews
  • 5 horrendous 1-star reviews
In terms of genre and content, my tagging/shelving breaks down as follows:
  • 38% Epic Fantasy
  • 24% Horror
  • 17% LGBTQIA content
  • 17% WTF
  • 11% Erotica
  • 7% Archaeology/Paleontology
  • 6% Canadian authors
Looking at the authors, there are some definite trends with my most-reviewed authors being:
  • Terry M. West
  • Douglas Preston
  • Stephen King
  • C.T. Phipps
  • Catherine Cavendish
  • Mark  Lawrence
  • Clive Cussler
  • Peter V. Brett
  • Rowena Cory Daniells
  • Richard Laymon
To look at those authors a different way, my most-reviewed authors in terms of total pages read are:
  • Douglas Preston
  • Stephen King
  • Peter V. Brett
  • Brandon Sanderson
  • Mark  Lawrence
  • Clive Cussler
  • Julie E. Czerneda
  • Brian Staveley
  • Rowena Cory Daniells
  • Robin Hobb
Originally posted way back in 2013, my review of Magician's End by Raymond E. Feist remains my most-visited review, while Gail Z. Martin's Follow the Money from 2017 is my most-visited guest post. Two months into 2019Sarah Chorn is both my most-visited guest (On Dark Books and Lyrical Prose) and most-visited review (Seraphina's Lament) for the year, setting the bar high for everybody else.

I never really thought of 1 Million pageviews as being something I would ever attain, but here we are - and it's all thanks to you. A huge thank you to the authors, readers, reviews, publishers, and publicists for all the support over the years, and here's to a million more!
