Stacking The Shelves: Week 5 (2022)

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books we are adding to our shelves, whether they be physical or digital. This includes physical books bought, digital books downloaded, and those titles received for review.

Review Titles

A pair of review titles this week . . .

When it Rains is an upcoming novella by Mark Allan Gunnells that gives me vibes of King and Laymon with a mysterious, slimy rain that falls on the entire world at once, a fear that it contained a toxin that would make those who touched it sick, and tensions inside a bookstore between those who had been caught out in the rain and those who had not. March 25th 2022 by Crystal Lake Publishing

Ascension: Wolves of Goose Creek is the latest in the Tales from the DarkWorld series by Ronnie Massey, set in a world where vampires, werewolves, witches, and all other manners of beings not only live their lives freely and out in the open but are some of the media’s biggest celebutantes. New Acquisitions: Paperback Treasures

A handful of used bookstore finds on the paperback front this week...

Empire of Gold is the 7th Nina Wilde & Eddie Chase novel by Andy McDermott, in which an ancient puzzle leads them from Singapore to the jungles of South America, where inside a storm of political and drug warfare, Nina is getting close to one of history’s greatest secrets - the mythical golden city of El Dorado.

Azure Bonds & The Wyvern's Spur are the first two books of the Forgotten Realms: Finder's Stone Series by Kate Novak and Jeff Grubb, featuring Alias, an excellent warrior who wakes up with blue, twisting and magical runes inscribed on her right arm, and with total amnesia about the circumstances that surround the tattoo. Ready to unveil the impenetrable mystery, she forms a party with a halfling troubadour, a magician, and an introverted man-lizard.

Six Moon Dance by Sheri S. Tepper is the story of Newholme, a world settled by humans who cruelly bent the planet to their will, setting down roots and raising up cities and farms and a grand temple to their goddess . . . a world that is shaking with ever-increasing violence fed by a terrible secret that lies buried deep within a past that is not dead, not completely.
