Music and Book Trailers - The Damned by October Weeks (Guest Post & Giveaway)

Thanks for having me on your blog!

Today I’d like to talk a little about music and book trailers. :)

The Damned was written almost entirely to Evanescence music. From both the Fallen album and The Open Door. The book has a lot of action, but also emotional scenes, and their music spoke for both the characters and the environment the characters are in. The two songs that played the most were “My Immortal (the full band version)” and “Sweet Sacrifice”.

When it came time to make the book trailer, I almost used Evanescence as the soundtrack, but I couldn't find the right song. All of the songs spoke of the book, but not one could be condensed enough to really have an impact for the trailer. I wanted something with a metal edge that didn’t let up, and I soon realized—after trying out a few songs—that instrumental songs would be best for the trailer instead of lyrics. I used Animoto to make the trailer, and they have some awesome songs to use. The song I chose fit so perfectly with the feel of the book and the feel I wanted for the trailer. Still metal, but with a driving beat that really gave me chills once I had all the images and text filled in.

I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out! But I’ll let all of you awesome readers have the final say. What do you all think of the video?

About the Book

by October Weeks

Eight years ago, slayer Tuck Houston lost two of her closest friends to a Damned vampire named Josef Dragos—a beast who traded the sun for darkness and blood. She’s been hunting him since the day she walked into the carnage he created. But Josef has hidden himself well in the underground, from both slayers and other vampires.

When slayers around the globe start disappearing in a familiar pattern—Josef’s pattern—she’s put on the hunt. And despite the painful memories and very real threat to her future that come with tracking him down, Tuck is certain of one thing: she is going to make Josef  Dragos wish he’d never been born.

  1. Congratulations, October! Rocking cool trailer. Yeah, it would also cost a lot of money to use one of those Evanescence songs.

  2. Thank you, Alex! And thank you Bob for hosting me today!
