Waiting On Wednesday - Wastelands II: More Stories of the Apocalypse by John Joseph Adams

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Wastelands II: More Stories of the Apocalypse by John Joseph Adams
July 2, 2013 (Night Shade Books)

Since the landmark Wastelands anthology was published, apocalyptic fiction of all types have exploded in the popular consciousness. Wastelands 2 will focus on fiction published subsequent to the first book; It will feature stories by some of the most recent writers of the apocalypse (including Octavia Butler, George R.R. Martin, Stephen King, and Gene Wolf); and it will include several stories original to Wastelands 2.

There's nothing like a good apocalyptic read, and there are some stellar authors already announced for this second collection. Should make for a great read on a hot, humid, summer night. Here's hoping the recent woes at Night Shade Books don't keep this from hitting the shelves - it's still listed as forthcoming on Adams' website, so I'll take that as a good sign.
